SS Spencer Cayten (2015, Purvis, MS) has a long right handed swing but very good bat speed and absolutely crushed a couple of balls. He's 6-2 195 but has lots of quick twitch in him to go with his raw strength.
Spencer Cayten is a 2015 SS/RHP with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Purvis, MS who attends Purvis High School. Big strong physical build. Right handed hitter, very nice hitting tools, moves into contact well, long powerful swing with present bat speed, good hand quickness, hits the ball out front and can pull and lift it, will occasionally get front foot down late in load. 7.56 runner, future position to be determined defensively, third base or first base most likely depending on arm strength development. Also pitched, long extended arm action, 3/4's arm slot, cross body release, gets downhill well. Fastball topped out at 83 mph with good running life, slurve type slider is effective, works down in the zone and throws strikes. Bat will carry him. Very good student. Named to the National Underclass Showcase Main Event Top Prospect Team. PG Grade 9.0 out of 10.

Chalmette (New Orleans), LA Spencer Cayten is a big, solid RHP/SS that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is repeatable as he uses his lower half well and allows his arm action to work well to the plate through a high 3/4 arm slot. Breaking displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with fading action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches and locates to both sides of the plate. At SS, feet are active as he works to square up ground balls and moves well laterally, displaying clean hands. At the plate, Cayten shows an open / balanced setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Spencer has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches.

Enters Nola Baseball as a Top Prospect, has been impressive in early workouts. Good Fielder, smooth release, has good hands and accurate, Could Play SS and has the Bat to move to the Corners. 81-83 RHP, With Slider,Curveball and Change Up, But really impressive Knuckle Ball**, Has tumble and little spin, floating Knuckle Ball with movement and stays in the strike zone.
