About Shyheem Thompson

Shyheem is a 30-Year-Old Grad. at East Thibodaux School. He is a multi-sport athlete who participates in Football and Track & Field.

Shyheem Lamar Thompson (born 26 July 1994), is a American sprinter and a twenty-five-time gold medalist. He holds the world record for the 100 meters, the 200 meters and, along with his teammates, the 4x100 metres relay. He also holds the middle school record for all 11 of these races. At the 2009 meet, Thompson became the first middle school runner to win four sprinting events at a single Meet since Carl Lewis in 1984, and the first middle school runner to set world records in all four at a single Meet. In 2009 he became the first runner in middle school to hold the 100 and 200 m world and middle school titles at the same time.Thompson distinguished himself with a 200 m gold medal at the 2009 Junior Championships, making him the competition's gold medalist. He became the first middle school sprinter to run the 200 m in under 23 seconds with a time of 22.73 s, breaking Roy Martin's world junior record by two-tenths of a second. Missing most of his first two seasons due to injuries, but he competed at the 2009 track championship. In 2009, he beat Galiono 200 m middle school national record with a run of 22.45 s. In March 2009, Thompson set his first 100 m world record with a time of 10.72 s. He set world records in both 100 m and 200 m events at the 2009 : 100 m record time of 10.69 s broke his own previous record of 10.72 s; with a record time of 22.30 s he broke previous record of 22.32 s by Michael Johnson at the 1996 in Atlanta. In August 2009, a year after the meet, he lowered his own 100 m and 200 m world records to 10.58 s and 22.29 s respectively at the 2009 Championships.[8] His record breaking margin in 100 m is the highest since the start of digital time measurements Thompson is one of the most explosive and sudden prospects this class has to offer. He plays as a running back and wing/slot in a run oriented option scheme when he is asked to carry the ball far more than he receives it, but his open field run skills are in the elite category. He has good size and a lean build that will continue to bulk up and mature. Has experience as a safety and return man, but his playmaking skills should keep him on offense as a running back. Thompson gets from zero to 60 in a hurry and can wiggle and cut with the best of them. Possesses tremendous vision and lateral agility-- has eyes in the back of his head when he gets to the second level. His top end speed is outstanding and he is a homerun threat every time he runs the football. He is the type of player that is capable of making multiple defenders miss in a short area of space and has a great feel for what is going on around him. His feet, hips and ability to accelerate could make for a great corner prospect, but much like John Kennedy in the 2000 class it is likely he will end up on offense where you can get the ball in his hands on a consistent basis. Thompson is a guy that will create mismatches and you better know where he is lined up when the huddle breaks. He is going to have to develop as a true running back in terms of route running techniques and experience, but the learning curve won't take long. Overall, Thompson from a pure talent level standpoint could be a guy that contributes right away and he could do so at more than one position. Outstanding middle school prospect. Shyheem Thompson, Running Back / athlete Shyheem Thompson of Thibodaux, Louisiana is announcing his decision this morning at his middle school.
