Mark Boodram - Baseball Player

I'm currently in my Junior Year,and I am more determined than ever.With Cathedral Prep Seminary only having 130 students,10 players return this year including me/I had worked my body off tremendously over my sophomore-junior year summer,mixing in baseball and basketball workouts.Realizing that if I wanted to make my dream of playing college basketball or baseball come true,that i would have to eat,breath,and live theses two sports everyday,because i have only 2 years left and no one,no girls,no parties,and even no friends are getting in the way of me playing college.My goals right now are to get myself more exposed and develop myself as a baseball player and as as basketball player,and most importantly,get my Cathedral Prep Seminary a championship.

Sophomore year,I knew what I had to do.Freshman year was about me getting on the team,now I need to help my team win because being a returning player,and I wanted to get myself more exposed to scouts,but my team comes first before all of that,I had to play my role.Overall,i batting 290 the times i got on the field,and made 7 singles throughout the regular season.Unfortunately,we ended up losing to St.John's Prep again in the playoffs at Fordham University.and again we beat them twice in the regular season.

Freshman year was a very tough year for me.Being that,at the time,there was only one baseball team,there can only be a certain amount of freshman on the team.At tryouts,my coach picked three freshman to be put on the varsity team,and initially had cut me from the team.I was so discouraged and I wanted to prove to him that i was worthy and athletically able to be apart on the varsity team.So,I asked Coach Lopez if I can be on the practice squad and he agreed.After the basketball season,it was straight to baseball conditioning,and i knew if i wanted to be on this team,i needed to prove myself more than the next guy on the team,that i was worthy of a spot and playing time.Everyday,i went to the practices,workouts,everything associated with the team,and it wasn't a mandatory thing for me to go to theses practices and workouts because i wasn't on the team,but it was hard,there was days that i didn't feel like going because I thought that the effort wasn't worth it,that the chances of me of getting on them team was slimming down.However,I went to all of the practices,although I wasn't invited to the games,I didn't care about that,i cared about me getting better and being able to play on the varsity baseball team.Through the hard work,stress,and determination,I eventually moved up to the varsity level during the season,and at that moment,I felt so accomplished and was entailed with pride,that I had accomplished my goal,from being cut initially,to being apart of the team.For the baseball team's record,we made it all the way to the semifinals,but ending up losing to St.John's Prep,the same team we beat twice in the regular season.
