About Demonte Smith
Demonte is a 32-Year-Old Grad. at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is a multi-sport athlete who participates in Football and Track & Field.
I pride myself on being a true student athlete. I have a 4.00 GPA and I am a dual sport athlete. I have lettered in football all four years played and started on defense since my Sophomore year and was the starting fullback this year (2010). I led the team in tackles in '08 & '09, second in '10. I led the team in fumble recoveries in '09 and in '10 I was the leading carrier and rusher, thanks in part to the O-line. I was voted 1st Team Academic All State four years running and in '09) I added 1st Team Defense All Sky Conference to the resume. I was voted to the Kentucky Best of the Bluegrass All-Star team and received honorable mention for All-State team(All-Conference horos not yet revealed). I have been called a quick study and extremely coachable. While I have primarily played defense, I also play special teams and offense (fullback). I am about 5'91/2" 210lbs. I am working on my vertical, explosiveness, and hips even more than usual as of late and I would loved to be able to play Safety because of my ability to defend and open field tackle. I believe I could bring the concept of the hard hitting Safety to another level. I am a power runner who will get you the seven or eight you need, with the explosiveness, discipline, and speed to break long ones. I ran track last year and intend to this year as well. Track has allowed me to work on several aspects of my football game. When I found myself behind in a race, I give even more to catch the individual(s). On the football field this came in handy when pursuing receivers or running backs down field or tracking down opponents across the field. When in a track meet I was ahead, I fought not to get caught. Yet again this helped me when running the ball or getting away from blockers on defense to get to the ball. Coming out of the blocks in track also helped with football during a blitz package. We often came out of a three point stance off the line and much like remaining still waiting for the gun to sound in a track meet, waiting for the ball to snap and not jumping was critical to being able to get the job done. The relays taught me as much as the individual events, but one thing it taught me specifically were reliance on each other. No relay race could be won unless collectively we moved the baton around the track and no game could be won without each of us working together. I have a desire, skill set, and drive, to play football at the next level, coupled with my determination on the field and in the classroom, I believe I will contribute to a Division I or II team in 2011. My Name is DeMonte Smith of Warren Central High School, Bowling Green, KY.
