Patriots place WR Welker on IR (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

Wes Welker's season is officially over now that he's been placed on injured reserve. The New England Patriots made the move Wednesday, three days after Welker suffered a serious left knee injury in the first quarter of their 34-27 loss at the Houston Texans. Welker led the NFL with 123 receptions, a club record.
