OF Michaels signs with Astros for 1 year (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

Jason Michaels is staying with the Houston Astros. The backup outfielder agreed Monday to an $800,000, one-year contract. He batted .237 with four homers and 16 RBIs in 102 games for the Astros last season, seeing time at each spot in the outfield. Houston also announced that left-hander Gustavo Chacin has agreed to a minor league deal that includes an invitation to spring training.
