Durrell Summers scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half, Kalin Lucas scored 21 and No. 2 Michigan State pulled away from Florida Gulf Coast for a 97-58 victory Friday night. The Spartans (1-0) started sloppy and sluggish, but Summers' go-ahead dunk on an alley oop sparked a 17-4 run that put them in control.
