Michigan State beats Middle Tennessee 60-59 (AP) (sports.yahoo.com)

Michigan State stymied the nation's leading scorer just in time. Alysha Clark scored 34 points but none for the last 11-plus minutes, then fouled out as the ninth-seeded Spartans took advantage with a 60-59 win over No. 8 seed Middle Tennessee on Sunday in the NCAA tournament's first round. Michigan State's Mia Johnson made a tiebreaking 3-pointer with just over a minute left.
