Ariana Moorer scored 11 points and fellow reserve Lexie Gerson had 11 to help No. 14 Virginia overcome its poor shooting in a 56-49 victory over Purdue in an ACC/Big Ten Challenge game Thursday night. Monica Wright had seven points in just 17 minutes before fouling out with 6:12 left for the Cavaliers (6-1), who closed the game with an 8-2 run.
