Shayla Scott had a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds as No. 24 Pittsburgh came from behind to avoid an upset, beating Appalachian State 63-56 Friday. The Mountaineers (1-3) came into the game with a No. 269 RPI and were picked eighth in the preseason Southern Conference poll. But they led by as many as seven and did not trail during the second half until there was 2:23 remaining.
